Co-op: Continuous Improvement (Fall 2018)

+ Report to the Volvo Production System department which is responsible for working with the entire facility daily

+ Responsible for Focused Improvement focus area for Hagerstown; work includes measuring employee engagement and involvement in the continuous improvement journey based on the number of projects completed and the amount of cost savings per year

+ Working directly daily with operators, engineers, supervisors, etc. to improve the facility and support production in any way possible

+ Understanding how manufacturing works to further develop your professional skills


+ Help facilitate continuous improvement ideas around the facility

+ Implement one quick kaizen and one standard kaizen from an improvement opportunity you find

+ Participate in at least one Autonomous Maintenance or Work Place Organization blitz event


+ Teamwork, leadership, time management, communication

+ Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

+ Time studies and motion analysis

+ Continuous improvement/Lean manufacturing

**Minimum Education Requirements**

+ Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing a Manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, supply chain, project management, or engineering management degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the Co-op

+ Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
